Terms of Service

Welcome to The CollegeR ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using our app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Your Account

  • You must provide accurate information when registering.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old, or have a parent or guardian register and manage your account.

2. Use of the Service

  • The CollegeR is a planning tool to help families navigate U.S. college admissions. It is not a guarantee of admission, scholarships, or visa approval.
  • You agree not to misuse the service, including uploading false information, attempting to access other families' data, or automating the service.
  • The Parent's Circle community must be used respectfully. We may moderate or remove content that violates our guidelines.

3. AI-Generated Content

Some features use artificial intelligence to generate suggestions (for example, college matches or essay feedback). AI output may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated suggestion before relying on it.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Premium features may require a paid subscription. Fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with reasonable notice.

5. Intellectual Property

We own the app, its design, and original content. Your uploaded data remains yours. You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the service.

6. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

8. Subscriptions, Payments, and Refunds

  • Premium subscriptions are billed in advance via our payment processor (Stripe or Wix Payments, branded as "Base44 Payments").
  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current period except where required by law.
  • Card and billing details are collected and processed by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Summer program enrollments and featured-listing boosts are one-time charges. Refund and dispute terms for marketplace purchases are in Section 9.

9. Marketplace, Summer Programs, and Commissions

  • The CollegeR hosts a commission marketplace where independent program providers list summer programs, internships, and bootcamps.
  • Providers are solely responsible for the content, quality, and delivery of their programs. The CollegeR is a listing and payment platform, not the provider of these programs.
  • For "platform checkout" listings, payment is processed on-site and the platform deducts a commission (default 10%, admin-overridable) before remitting the net payout to the provider.
  • For "affiliate link" listings, enrollment occurs on the provider's external site. We may earn a referral commission when you enroll via a tracked affiliate link.
  • If a program is cancelled or not delivered as described, you may open a dispute from your enrollment record. Approved disputes result in a refund to your original payment method; the provider's payout is reversed or clawed back accordingly.
  • We may suspend or remove provider listings that violate these Terms or our marketplace standards.

10. Grant Codes and Sponsored Access

  • Verified charities and donors may purchase grant codes that sponsor Professional-tier access for students with financial need.
  • Grant codes are redeemable once. Sponsored access expires at the end of the granted term; you are responsible for re-subscribing or obtaining a new code before expiry to avoid losing premium features.
  • The CollegeR is not responsible for a charity's or donor's eligibility criteria, selection decisions, or code distribution.

11. Children's Privacy and Parental Consent (COPPA)

  • Students under 13 may not create an account independently. A parent or guardian must create the family account and provide verifiable consent before the child's information is collected.
  • Parents can review or delete their child's data at any time from Settings. See the Privacy Policy for details on under-13 data handling.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
  • Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the app will be resolved through final and binding arbitration rather than in court, except that you may bring small-claims matters in your local small-claims court. The arbitration will be conducted in the United States.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will note the new version and effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
